The Business Systems Consultant helps with strategic IT initiatives through creating materials and content to assist leadership in building roadmaps and frameworks to meet the goals of the organization. This role helps leadership educate all levels of the organization to clarify and to understand the details of the strategic plan and how departmental goals connect to the corporate goals. Additionally, the analyst assists senior leadership in budgeting, metrics, ad hoc projects, and general operational support.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Defines project scope and objectives based on leadership needs combined with a thorough understanding of enterprise business systems and industry requirements
  • Performs a major role in the development and implementation of enterprise-wide analytic tools and reporting systems. This role may interface with multiple business units such as accounting / finance, claims, operations, physician clinics, customer service, executive management, and sales and marketing
  • Serves as an expert resource regarding the alignment of enterprise analytic tools and reporting system strategies with the business goals and strategic drivers
  • Applies knowledge of managed care operating environment and underlying systems data to all major production systems used for delivery of reporting services to internal and external clients
  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with both internal/externals customers at the senior management and executive level to influence project teams and gain consensus on the selection of the most viable solutions. The position acts as a key team member to both IT and the assigned business unit
  • Uses strong critical thinking skills along with managed care, or physician office business knowledge to have insight and understanding of business concepts, tools and processes that are needed for making sound decisions in the contact of the company’s business
  • Tracks progress and notifies management of issues that require escalation, and assumes responsibility for resolving or coordinating the resolution of system and process issues
  • Develops and maintains project plans and/roadmaps, and manages specific tasks to ensure project success
  • Collaborates on and oversees various projects as assigned that are cross-functional in nature
  • Leads or assists in the development of IT communication and business training materials, processes, and procedures related to reporting packages and reporting systems
  • Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). Internal Candidates:

  • Analyzing the Product roadmap and helping define the PI, Sprint stories and Epics
  • Regular interaction with team and business stakeholders for refining requirements
  • Ensuring compliance to Optum OSAM standard Agile Scrum practices
  • Following all Agile ceremonies with team
  • Providing relevant status to management
  • Good Team player, change/innovation agents and self-starter
  • Ready to take up any process challenges and Research oriented
  • Adaptable and transformable to learn latest technologies as per business needs

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems or related technical field (4 additional years of comparable work experience beyond the required years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a bachelor’s degree)
  • 7+ years of experience in developing requirements and performing system analysis
  • 7+ years of experience of major systems implementation experience
  • 3+ years of project management experience leading technical projects or teams
  • Experience in all phases of Software Development Life Cycle/Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Extensive knowledge of Health Care Industry and related business functions
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint
  • Exposure to clinical domain in healthcare, Sr. Business Analyst Skills, Requirement Elicitation, Excellent verbal, and written skills, SDLC Knowledge and hands-on implementation Experience, Analytical, Practiced in various frameworks (Agile/Scrum/Kanban)
  • Strong writing skills with ability to generate professional communications and training material
  • Ability to communicate ideas and problem solutions

Preferred Qualification:

  • US Healthcare domain knowledge, US major medical experience, Experience in US Hospital/Clinical care space
