This position is for SCIEX team located at Danaher India Development Center (IDC), Bangalore
IDC is a research and development center with the vision of accelerating product roadmaps across various Danaher business segments. Started in 2014, the center now hosts 500+ associates, for multiple Danaher operating companies focusing on Diagnostics, Life Science, and Environmental and Applied Science segments. The operating companies includes Beckman Coulter, Radiometer, Leica Biosystems, Danaher Digital, Hach, Leica Microsystems, HemoCue, Videojet and Cepheid.
The IDC workforce comprises of various product engineering teams, working on development of software and hardware components of cutting-edge products for, Immunoassay, Chemistry, Hematology, Molecular diagnostics, Oncology, Neurosurgery and Water Quality. IDC has evolved as center of excellence for Cloud and data analytics, with significant contributions to the key informatics solutions. The teams consist of highly hardworking software & hardware engineers and development managers. The teams are supported by local Product managers, Quality & Regulatory and Intellectual property specialists.
The inhouse teams works in close coordination with other global R&D centers at US, Canada, Europe, Japan, China, and Singapore. Located at the center of Bangalore IT HUB, IDC is housed at state of art facility, measuring 120 K.
Position Description:
The position of Lead Software Engineer reports to the Software Engineering Manager with the responsibility of leading a team of engineers creating desktop and hybrid applications in order to translate Sciex’s strategic vision into technical reality.
You will be called upon to work collaboratively with our business partners, Architects, Product Managers/Owners, to set goals for your team and guide them with hands-on technical expertise. You will be involved in deep in technical design discussions and implementations. You will bring your proficiency in application development, software development leadership and detailed SW planning/execution acumen.
You will have the opportunity to mentor team member to become highly efficient in what they do with on-time product delivery. You will work with a globally distributed Agile team in a fast- paced environment. Your team members will be located in Bangalore and will closely collaborate with the development teams in Toronto, Canada.
Responsibilities :
Specific responsibilities commensurate with experience and include:
Works closely with our Software Applications and Research associates, and other functions to design and develop Mass spectrometer software products and capabilities with focus on instrument control and drive development.
Act as a technical product owner to drive product increment and work with global product owners and product managers.
Analyzes problems to deliver creative, logical, and effective solutions using good design principles that satisfy functional and non-functional requirements.
Works with off-site development teams to ensure development process and product alignment during project execution.
Committed to on-time delivery and high quality
Implements software modules and unit tests and conducts appropriate module testing.
May lead small software development teams of software developers.
Detects, reports, investigates, and fixes product defects
Mentors less senior team members, and peer reviews product artifacts including requirement specifications, design specifications, code, etc.
Follows established practices of agile methodologies, i.e. test-driven development, that will ensure high quality software.
Evaluates new software development technologies, tools and practices. Recommend adoption of new tools.
Works collaboratively and proactively to maximize the success of the research and development teams.
Key Requirement & Qualifications:
Degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
6+ years’ experience in designing and developing applications using C#/.NET. Experience with C++ or other OO languages an asset.
1+ years’ experience in leading small software development team.
Experience with design and implementation of n-tier systems, reusable libraries and development frameworks.
Experience with Visual Studio, C#, ASP.NET, MVC, .NET Framework 4.5, WCF, WPF and Unit Testing Frameworks
Experience in one or more unit testing frameworks such as NUnit, SpecFlow, MSTest
Familiarity with Open Source libraries like Unity IoC, Automapper, Enterprise Library
Experience in one or more build tools such as Jenkins, TeamCity, TFS, CruiseControl.NET is desired.
Experience in one or more profiling tools such as Telerik JustTrace, dotTrace, NProfiler
Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision making skills.
Proven technical leadership skills and a team player, with strong collaboration skills.
Proven experience working in a cross-functional team of technical and non-technical personnel
Excellent time-management skills, ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
