Senior Security Engineer

Location: India: Remote


What is the job?

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Security Engineer to secure Pierian’s information and infrastructure from external or internal threats, implement third-party tools to assist in detection and prevention, along with analysis of security threats. The Sr. Security Engineer will be responsible for the installation, administration, and monitoring of security products, including identity and access management, security event and incident management, vulnerability scanners, and other security solutions to protect our Pierian’s computing environment. You must be analytical, self-driven, ready to operate in a fast-paced environment, and willing to do what it takes to get the job done. Your contributions will enable health systems and clinical laboratories to deliver personalized medicine based on an individual’s genomic profile.

What will you do?

In this role, you will tackle a broad range of Information Security efforts for Pierian, including:

  • Respond to, remediate, and document information security incidents
  • Support vulnerability mitigation and remediation activities
  • Implement, configure, manage, and document security tools used by Pierian including Firewalls, VPNs, IAM, SIEM, vulnerability scanners, email protection services, network security, endpoint security, patch management, and other security products
  • Develop and carry out information security plans and policies
  • Develop or implement scripts and tools to automate threat detection
  • Assist in the development and testing of Disaster Recovery / Business Continuity Plans
  • Establish requirements and make recommendations on the appropriate infrastructure protection tools, methods, and technologies
  • Monitor networks and systems for security breaches, through the use of software that detects intrusions and anomalous system behavior
  • Perform security gap assessments and penetration tests, generate comprehensive reports and recommendations on the security risks and vulnerabilities discovered
  • Keep abreast of the latest security advisories, alerts, and vulnerabilities pertaining to Pierian and its mission. Assists with periodic threat exercises and makes recommendations to technology management on the need for policy changes
  • Work closely with business analysts and the DevOps team on existing and new deployments to ensure that best practices are followed
  • Assist with the development and implementation of Security Awareness Training for entire organization


What do you bring to the table?

  • Seven years minimum experience with common information security management frameworks such as SSAE16 SOC2 Type 2, HITRUST, or ISO/IEC 27001. Knowledge of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Cyber Security Framework (CSF) and SP800-XX frameworks for operational technology management
  • Five years minimum experience working with Amazon AWS
  • CISM or CISSP preferred
  • Python experience preferred
  • Expertise in SEIM, firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection, content filtering, file integrity monitoring and endpoint protection technologies
  • Expertise in designing secure networks, systems, and application architectures
  • Experience with vulnerability scanners and penetration tools such as Nmap, Nessus, Metasploit, etc.;
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and knowledge of risk assessment tools, technologies, and methods
  • Must be organized, detail-oriented, and able to handle multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills – must be able to work effectively as part of a team and foster team cooperation
