Team Overview:
We are the EAI (Enterprise Application Integration) development team at Northwell Health, a key component of a large scale integration department including developers, analysts, QA testing resources, solutions engineering and strategic architects. Our team is primarily responsible for all integration and development between the various partner applications within the health system. We bridge the gap between distinct ancillary applications to allow cross platform communication for the requirement and benefit of both our patients as well as the front line healthcare workers.
Position Summary:
The software engineer position will be working primarily to design and build various types of standardized interfaces to accept, transform, manipulate, format, and deliver clinical, financial and other data between ancillary applications. This individual will be working on varied projects alongside our partner integration teams through all phases of the IDLC (Interface Development Life Cycle), Including design, build, test, activation, go-live and support. The software engineer will be responsible for fostering effective teamwork and collaboration both within EAI development, and our larger integration department as a whole.
Remote candidates will be considered. Will be required to travel to NY office on occasion.
Responsibilities Include:
- Development designing, implementing, testing, debugging, and deploying software predominately leveraging InterSystems’ Ensemble integration engine technology in an environment exchanging high volumes of data
- Technical analysis and programming skills, the ability to understand business and technical requirements as well as architecture and design specifications, as we work to develop high quality integration productions
- Support the existing agile teams with accomplishing project tasks
- Assist with design and implementation on systems integration projects
- Work on both new and existing productions to create, enhance, or resolve issues
- Participate in the end to end software development life cycle for integration projects
Basic Qualifications:
- 2+ years of working experience with InterSystems technology stack (Cache, Ensemble) preferred
- 1+ year of Healthcare industry experience with HL7 and X12 EDI preferred
- 2+ year of working experience of object-oriented design and development experience (JAVA, Python, C++, VB)

- Experience in high-volume environments
- Ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Effective communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences
- Working knowledge in software build and deployment (source control, build, deployment, configuration)
- Hands-on troubleshooting in Ensemble environment
- Motivation to drive tasks to completion and take ownership of projects
- Experience with Agile Frameworks such as Scrum or Kanban
- Direct experience with TDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Deployment, Automated Testing
- Knowledge of web services – REST/SOAP, JSON, XML
- Usage of version control systems (Git, SVN)
- Familiarity with scripting languages such as Powershell or Unix Shell scripting
- Ability to author SQL statements or stored procedures
Travel Requirements:
- May require local travel
- May require other travel for business needs
Working Arrangements:
- May require after hours on call support
